We were lucky enough to have the opportunity to debut Jewel's visuals and ask her a couple of questions for ya'll to get a better sense of who she is and what she's all about:

1. Introduce yourself :)

My name is Jewel Coles, I go by 'Jewel.' I started making music when I was in college, I would record out of a house across the street from campus. I grew up in PG County, I live in Bowie, MD.

2. What inspired/motivated you to start creating music in the first place?

Writing, it became my outlet and then I transitioned to songwriting.

3. How would you describe your sound?

I would say my sound is a bubbly upbeat hip hop. I'd like to say TRIPPY.

4. How do you want your music to impact the youth culture/ what kind of impact do you hope to leave?

I really want to show people that it's okay to take the path that's least traveled. It's okay to go against the grain and do your own thing.

"Me choosing music over school is me choosing to pursue my passion and I hope others see that and aren't afraid to follow their dreams."

5. Tell us about the process of How you created 'The Gram' and the concept for the visual, and working with Kelow LaTesha?

Well The Gram was a track I had written already and I thought it would be dope to try and get Kelow to throw a verse on there. We ran into each other at the club one night I asked her to hit me up and she did, and from there came the Gram. The visual is a pool party theme. A nice little summer time vibe with dope ppl that saw the flyer on the gram and they came to party. Kelow was super fun to shoot with, we had genuine fun a lot of natural shots in the video.

6. What are your upcomin projects/ what are you working on now?

I am currently working on releasing a vlog for my upcoming EP, The Kickback. In the mean time I'm doing shows and working on getting some merchandise made for all my gems (my loyal supporters).

7. If you had to give a piece of advice to a female wanting to start their music career, what would it be?

"Be persistent, don't give up. Stand out and be you."

8. Who's your power woman and why?

My mom, she's the strongest woman I know and I strive to be more and more like her everyday.
