What you’ll find
WHO WE’ve worked with
faces Behind BabyPink
The idea behind BabyPink started mid 2016. I, like many others, noticed there weren’t many women out in the rap & hip hop scene gaining sustainable recognition for their work. No, not that there were hardly any women in the game, hear me right, there were hardly any women getting recognition. I sat down a few weeks later and wrote a list of 100 women in hip hop. And that was in 2016. Now, I can double that easily. They are out there, but it’s about getting the “consumers’ to see them & listen. That’s hard when one of the standards for what makes a “popular rapper”, is being a man. That why I decide to pursue creating BabyPink because I want to challenge this status quo, and already, in 2019, we have seen tremendous growth for all identified women in hip hop & rap.
For all the years I knew Paige, our bond grew strongest when we shared with each other our love for music and art. She of course was on board to creating change in this industry we both love and that’s when our BabyPink journey started together. We launched the site May 2017 and two years later, we’ve hosted 2 multi-creative events putting on over 20 local creatives, listening parties & panels, worked with and interviewed numerous women from all around, created over 50+ playlists & so much more. You will see us continue to educate, give opportunities, and grow our community towards a more thoughtful & inclusive direction.
